On October 3rd 2011 Liberty Properties and Aveng Grinaker LTA each donated an Edutainer® to St. Martins pre-school in Geluksdal- watched by a cheering crowd of children and teachers.
The St Martins project will be a major development. The two Edutainers® will take 50 children. Liberty Properties is selecting 10 ‘Bright Buttons” to attend the Edutainers®
absolutely free. They will be talented children drawn from poorer areas
of the surrounding community and given a real chance to succeed by
attending a superb pre-school. Aveng Grinaker LTA , is developing the
entire site by adding an ablution and a kitchen container, together with
paving. Several donors have pooled together to provide fencing.
We will keep you updated about this very excting and dynamic project.
Bright Kid Foundation containers are converted off-site and delivered to the recipient schools. Unlike with brick buildings, building plans of containers are not examined and approved by municipalities. Agrèment is affiliated with the Department of Public Works and ensures that Bright Kid Foundation containers adhere to National Building regulations, including structural integrity, ventilation and insulation. The letter from Agrèment below explains this in detail. Bright Kid Foundation conversions are Agrèment certified. Agrèment conducts an extensive audit annually to ensure that these standards are met. Bright Kid Foundation is the only classroom container converter that is Agrèment certified
In order to comply with the requirements of all functional regulations of part A of the National Building Regulations, issued in terms of the National Building Regulations and Building Standards Act, 1977 (Act No.103 of 1977), the following are considered:
adhering to the prescriptive deemed-to-satisfy requirements provided in the relevant parts of SANS 10400.
appointing a competent person to undertake a rational design or rational assessment in terms of a relevant part of SANS 10400.
adhering to the requirements of an Agrément certificate; or appointing a competent person to reliably demonstrate, or predict with certainty, to the satisfaction of the appropriate local authority, that an adopted building solution has an equivalent or superior performance to a solution that complies with the requirements of the relevant parts of SANS 10400 (Regulation AZ4).
The above confirm that Agrément certificate is one of the options to comply with the National Building
Regulations.
